Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi Chairman, Healthcare Self-Reliance - Bio Investments MENA
Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi serves as the Chairman, Healthcare Self-Reliance of the Bio Investments Group in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. As such, he is accountable for leading the company’s efforts to accelerate vaccines, biolgics and in-vitro diagnostics self-sufficiency within a short time frame. Prior to joining the Bio Investments Group, Dr. Al Saidi served as Minister of Health, Sultanate of Oman from March 2010 until June 2022.
Dr. Al Saidi has a distinguished career marked by numerous achievements in both the public sector and healthcare in general. His relentless dedication to improving global healthcare has consistently earned him recognition from local and international health agencies and from several government authorities.
Beyond his notable public service, Dr. Al Saidi has been a strong advocate for global health improvements. He championed a resolution at the WHO highlighting the crucial role of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in global health preparedness, prevention, and response. At the WHO Executive Board Meeting (EB148), he introduced Oman's meticulous Patient Safety Action Plan 2021-2030, illustrating the nation's strategic steps towards broader health coverage and enhanced patient safety. Additionally, Dr. Al Saidi was instrumental in launching the Global Health for Peace Initiative, a tripartite collaboration between Oman, Switzerland, and the WHO, emphasizing health as an inalienable human right and heralding the philosophy of "Health as a Bridge for Peace."
Dr Al Saidi is a Physician-Rheumatologist and a graduate and Alumni of the Harvard University, the Royal College Of Physicians & Surgeons Of Glasgow, the University of Glasgow and the Park College, Kansas City, USA.
